Next week, Jamer Hunt, Associate Professor of Transdisciplinary Design; School of Design Strategies; Parsons The New School for Design will kick off this semester’s designer’s lecture series at CalArts.

Hunt will be addressing his and Paola Antonelli’s (MoMA) 2013 on-line curatorial experiment Design and Violence for the MoMA website. As stated on Hunt’s website, Design and Violence “brings together controversial, provocative, and compelling design projects with leading voices from outside of design to explore the relationships between creation, destruction, design and everyday experience. Our aim as curators is to challenge ourselves and our community to consider the mutant forms violence takes in contemporary society and the role of design in engendering—or not—those forms.”

Jamer Hunt also collaboratively designs open and flexible programs that respond to emergent cultural conditions. His written work engages with the poetics and politics of the built environment and has been published in various books, journals, and magazines, including I.D. magazine, which published his Manifesto for Postindustrial Design.
