The last weekend in February, the Graphic Design department headed to Downtown Los Angeles for the first ever Graduate Practice pop-up show! On view was a curated selection of work by students in their final year of the CalArts MFA graphic design program (Lisa Armstrong, Kathy Bates, Lewis Choi, Junki Hong, Simo Liu, Yinchen Niu, Yiyi Shao, Jacob Shpall, Dameon Waggoner, and Guanyan Wu). This work is the first public output of Graduate Practice, a new graduating year curriculum in which students imagine and prototype future design practices that engage contemporary issues, topics and approaches in and outside the field.
