After a few years of ongoing efforts, the End of the Year Books produced by MFA Graphic Design students at CalArts are now catalogued and archived in the CalArts library. Thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of librarian Karen Baxter and MFA alumnus Ryan Hines, the books are now part of the library’s online database, and also housed safely in the Artists Books room of the library. Close to 90 books are in the process of finishing being photographed, and those images should be available online sometime in the new year. Thanks to Eric Otto, Library Image Services Manager who photographed the books, and librarian Susan Lowenberg, who cataloged them.
The End of the Year books have been a requirement of the MFA program since 2000, and form a record of an individual student’s body of work produced at CalArts, as well as containing documentation of MFA thesis projects. So, if you graduated from CalArts with an MFA after 2000 and DIDN’T complete your EOY book, well, now’s the time! We’ll keep a space open for you in the archive.
